How to Set a House Cleaning Schedule
Setting a house cleaning schedule is important if you want things to run smoothly. If you like to always be on top of things, a schedule is the way to go. Setting up your schedule is easy and takes little time. All you need to do is think about each area of your home and make a few lists. Post the schedule on your refrigerator for easy reference.
The chart method
To use the chart method, answer the following questions:
- Which areas need daily cleaning?
- Which areas only need weekly cleaning?
- Which days of the week do you want to clean?
After answering the above questions, you will need to make a chart of each day of the week. Take the days you plan to clean and assign chores based on how often they need to be done. You may even want to set the time of day that you clean.
The multi-task method
Another way is to create a routine while doing everyday tasks. Some people actually find this easier, as it eliminates the need to have a set time to clean the house. You can take care of small chores and only do a once-a-week deep clean. Below you will find some great examples of how to incorporate your house cleaning into everyday tasks. These are only a few ways. Look at the things you do daily and figure out how doubling up could work best for you.
- While cooking meals, take care of dishes, counters, the stovetop, the microwave, clean out the fridge and mop the floor. You cook 3 times a day, so put that time to good use.
- While bathing the kids, take the time to clean the counter, the toilet area, the mirror, toss old toiletries and do a quick wipe down of your floor.
- Laundry should always be running, no matter what chore you are doing. This is one of those tasks that can happen in the background. Assign a basket to each person in the house. Make him or her responsible for putting laundry away, to cut down on your workload.
