How to Sew Scrub Tops
If you work in the medical field, you are probably going to need a few sets of scrubs. If you have the knowledge and the ability to sew, creating these uniforms can be an extremely quick and easy process. Additionally, making your own scrubs allows you to have a more tailored work uniform.
- Measure your upper body.
- Purchase the fabric that you would like to use for the scrubs. The fabric should be cotton-polyester. This is going to make movement very easy in this uniform.
- Wash and dry the fabric that you have just purchased.
- Cut out the fabric so that it is going to fit you comfortably. Make sure that you do not cut it too tight. You are going to need to move around freely in this uniform.
- Mark the uniform in all of the places that you are going to be sewing. Sew up the sides on the shirt of the uniform. Leave a hole at the top that is big enough for your head.
- Try the top on. It should feel very loose. You are going to need to move around a lot in this uniform so test it out and see if it feels comfortable.
- Cut out sleeves for the top of your scrub set. Make sure that they are wide enough to fit around your arms. Measure your arms to the length that you would like the sleeves to fall. Sew the sleeves onto the shirt.
- Cut out a pentagon shape for your pocket. Make this shape as big as you would like it to be. Sew four of the edges onto the shirt around the chest area. Where you would like it to be.
