How to Shape Your Eyebrows

Eyebrows frame your face and draw attention to your eyes. The way you should shape your eyebrows depends on the shape of your face. There are six different categories of face shapes. To determine your face shape, pull your hair back, look in the mirror and look at your face. Decide if it is oval, square, heart, long, diamond or round shaped.

Oval Shaped

If your face is wider towards your forehead and gets narrow near your chin, then your face is oval shaped. People with oval-shaped faces can shape their eyebrows any way they choose. This face shape works with any type of eyebrows. Simply pluck away any hairs that are out of place or longer than the rest. If you want an arch in your eyebrows, pluck more hair from the center of the brows.

Square Shaped

If your cheekbones, chin and forehead are all the same width, and your jaw line is squared, then your face shape is square. People with square-shaped faces look best with small arched eyebrows. To shape your eyebrows, use your finger to pull your eyebrow up and pluck any hairs under your natural arch. To define the arch, pluck more hair from the center of the eyebrows.

Heart Shaped

If your face is oval shaped but your chin is pointed, then your face is heart shaped. People with heart-shaped faces look best with short eyebrows and a small arch. To get this shape, pluck hairs from the center of the eyebrow to create the arch and from each outer side of the eyebrow to make them short.

Long Shaped

If your face is long shaped, the chin, cheekbones and forehead are all the same width and the face appears long. Long-shaped faces look best with short eyebrows. To shape your eyebrows, pluck hairs away from the outer side of the eyebrow to make it short.

Diamond Shaped

If your face is diamond shaped, the forehead is short and the face is wider at the temples. Diamond-shaped faces look best with well-defined arches. To achieve this shape, pluck hairs away from the center of your eyebrows until the arch is high and well defined.

Round Shaped

If your face is round shaped, the length and width of the face are equal. Round-shaped faces look best with eyebrows that are thicker toward the center of the face and taper off towards the side. To get this shape, pluck any hair that is under the outer side of the eyebrows. Leave the eyebrows toward the center of the face natural.
