How to Shoot a Scene in a Funeral Home
Making a movie scene in a funeral home is no different than shooting at another location. The most important thing is to get the permission from the funeral home to shoot the scene, making sure there are no wakes underway at the time of the shooting.
- Make sure there are no other people in the funeral home at the time of the shooting that are not involved in the movie. If there are people in the funeral home that will be in the movie shoot, make sure that they sign a waiver saying they have consented to being in the movie. Bring all movie equipment to the funeral home, but do not start shooting until everything is in place.
- Arrange the lighting any way you would like, but make sure there is lots of light for your scene. If there is not a lot of lighting, your film will not turn out correctly and will be dark.
- Achieve great audio by using high quality audio equipment. Place the audio equipment around the room near the area the scene will be shot. Using a headset will help cut down the noise on the audio equipment.
- Scan the shoot as many times as needed to get a great shoot. Interference is the main problem with making a movie, because you are focusing on the subject at hand. If there is interference of any kind, reshoot the scene until it is perfect.
- Try to complete the scene in a timely manner so the funeral home can go back to its business at hand. It would be best to shoot the scene after the funeral home has closed for the night.
