How to Shop for Bathroom Wall Tile

Bathroom wall tile comes in many colors and styles, and add a unique element to a bathroom.  If the tiles become damaged or cracked, they need to be replaced, as well if the walls behind the tiles are waterlogged or moldy.  Taking good care of the bathroom tiles will make them last longer.  Be sure to always wash the bathroom tiles with a quality professional bathroom cleaner to get rid of dirt or mold.

  1. Think about what kind and color tiles you want to buy.  If you want to match the tiles to your towels or wallpaper, bring a sample in order to match them up.

  2. Pick a type of tile.  Glazed and porcelain are the two most popular kinds of ceramic tile.  Porcelain tile cost more than glazed tile and are more common in bathrooms.

  3. Make sure the tiles are the same size.  Ceramic tiles are first baked in a kiln, cooled after and this process can cause the tiles to vary in size.  Almost all ceramic tiles on the market will have small deviations.  However, the difference is nothing more than a 1/8” margin difference.

  4. Choose a size.  Bathroom tiles come in various sizes.  It is normally best to pick small tiles for bathroom walls in order to prevent cracks and leaks.  Small tiles aren’t as hard to replace if they become damaged or worn.

  5. Inquire about warranties.  Stores will offer you a warranty on bathroom tiles and will even replace the tiles for free in cases of accidental damage.

  6. Think about whether you want to install the tiles yourself, or if you would rather hire somebody to install.  Many stores will offer you a discount if you hire one of their employees to place tiles.  Whenever you buy your tiles, be sure to inquire about discounts and deals that could be available.
