How to Size a Security Door

- Visit your local home improvement store, and view the selection of security doors that they have available to help you decide on the style that you like the best. You can also compare prices to help you determine the door that you like the best that is within your price range.
- Measure the frame of your door from the door frame not the molding on the door. You should measure first from right to left and record the measurement on a separate piece of paper in inches, this number is the width of your door. Measure from the top of the door frame to the bottom of the door frame and record this measurement in inches; this is the height of your door.
- Return to the home improvement store where you viewed the security doors and place your order. Let them know what door you would like to order, as well as the dimensions that you need the door to be.
- Wait for the door to arrive. If the size of your door is not a standard size, you will need to wait for them to order you a custom door in the correct size for your home.
