Job Description for an Appliance Parts Counter Person

How to Start a Appliance Parts Repair Service

Appliances are always breaking and need repaired. You might want to consider opening a small business of repairing appliances if you have a lot of knowledge in home repairs. These types of businesses can just start as a hobby and eventually lead to a full time job.

Things You'll Need:

  • Work Vehicle

  • Tools

  • Storage Area

  • Stickers

  • Phone Line

  1. Purchase a small work vehicle and tools to repair the appliances. You should be able to find a small cargo van at a local car dealership at a reasonable price. Cargo vans are nice for storing tools because they have a lot of space in the back. Purchase new tools for your business instead of using ones you already have. This will help you better organize your business and allow you to keep your personal tools at home.

  2. Organize an area near your house where you can store the work vehicle and tools. Try making room in your garage to start. You can always add space to your garage as the business grows.

  3. Put stickers on your van with your companies name and contact information. There should be a company near your neighborhood that can make you quality stickers at a reasonable price. You might want to consider adding another phone line as your business line so customers don't call your regular home line.

  4. Advertise your business by offering coupons in local coupon booklets. A lot of people like looking at coupon booklets to find deals on home repairs. Consider buying a few commercial spots on television if you have a lot of money to use on advertising and want the business to grow fast.
