How to Start a Dump Truck Service

Many people are looking for ways to make money. Starting your own business is not a bad idea. If you have a few dump trucks and have considered the idea, you should really do it. Starting up your own business is not that hard and all the money you earn will be yours.

  • Get your trucks in good running condition. Have them serviced and looked over by a mechanic. You don’t want any surprises when you start rolling out on the streets.

  • Visit your local tax office to find out what types of rules and regulations apply to opening up your own business. You may have to pay a fee when filing an application for your business.

  • Apply for an Employee Identification Number (EIN). Apply for the number is relatively easy. You may also apply for the number online at the Internal Revenue website.

  • Complete any documents that are required by the state. Visit your state's department of revenue website. Register to collect sales-and-use tax.

  • Write out a detailed business plan. You should include your budget expenses, insurance, office supplies, truck costs and anything you can think of related to your business. If you are not sure how to write out a plan, you can have one professionally done.

  • Contact your insurance agent. You will need insurance on all your trucks and those who will be driving.

  • Set up a location for your home office. If you plan to be out on the road, you may need to hire someone to run the office business.

  • Post ads in your local newspaper about your business. Make sure you check to see what type of costs other businesses are charging for their services. You want to give your customers a better rate.
