  • Pliers

  • Wire cutters

  1. Inflate the tire to the proper tire pressure as recommended on the label located on the driver’s side door.

  2. Listen for leaks from objects in the tire such as nails, glass, rocks, screws or other objects that may get lodged in the tire.

  3. Once you locate the object that is causing the leak, pull it out with a pair of pliers.

  4. Open the package containing the tire repair items. There should be plugs, a rasp that even the burrs in the hole and a plug inserter.

  5. Push the rasp into the hole and pull it out. Push and pull the rasp several times to smooth out the burrs along the edge of the hole. It should take about twelve times to smooth them out.

  6. Insert a plug into the hole in the plug inserter. Push the plug and plug inserter into the hole and pull the inserter out quickly. When you pull the inserter out, it will leave the plug in the tire hole. Trim away the excess plug with wire cutters.

  7. Locate the recommended tire pressure on the label located on the driver’s side door. Fill the tire to the recommended pressure.
