How to Stop a Table From Wobbling
Nothing is more annoying than a wobbly table. Liquid from cups can be spilled all over the table and floor if it is not repaired. The cause of the wobble could be a short leg or loose joints. Fixing the table is not hard to and can be done in less than one hour. There are also no special tools needed to accomplish this task and almost anyone can do it.
How to Stop a Table From Wobbling
Materials Needed
- Glider for the foot of table
- Sharp butcher knife
- Wood glue
- Wine cork
- Stiff brush
- Make sure the table is on a flat and level surface. You will be able to determine the cause of the wobble better.
- Determine which leg is causing the problem. If the piece on the foot of the leg is missing, replace it. The piece is known as a glider. The piece can be found at your local home improvement or hardware store. Use wood glue to secure it to the leg.
- If the leg is actually shorter than the other legs and the piece on the foot of the leg is there, follow the remaining steps.
- Determine how much shorter one leg is from the others by using a tape measure. Measure the length of the short leg and one of the longer legs. Subtract those two numbers. This is how much you will need to cut from a wine cork to fix the wobble.
- Cut a wine cork to the length you came up with. Use a sharp butcher knife to cut the wine cork.
- Use a stiff brush to remove any dirt, dust or debris from the bottom of the short leg.
- Secure the wine cork to the short left with wood glue.
- Allow the glue to dry completely before moving the table. It should take about four hours for the glue to completely dry.
