How to Store Summer Clothes

Summer is a fun time of year. The warm weather allows you to enjoy many outdoor activities. Clothing worn during the hot summer months usually is not suitable for the cold winter months. Properly storing your summer clothes for the next summer can keep them from being damaged.

Supplies needed

  • Hangers

  • Large containers

  • Moth balls

  • Labels

  • Pen or marker

  1. Wash your summer clothes. Get them as clean as possible before you store them. After you have finished washing them, allow them to properly dry. Use a dryer or hang them outside if the weather permits.

  2. Sort your summer clothes. Doing this by sorting tops and bottoms is one method you can use. If you are doing this for your family, then sorting clothes by family member is something that you will want to do.

  3. Prepare your labels. Label all the large containers appropriately. For instance, if one container will hold your son's summer clothes, label it with his name so his clothes can be easily retrieved next summer.

  4. Put the clothes in the containers and put the moth balls in with the clothes. Moth balls will keep insects from damaging your clothes while they are being stored. Make sure the lids on the containers are secure when you are finished placing the clothes and moth balls in them.

  5. Put the containers in a place where they will not be in the way. This can be the back of the closet or the attic.

  6. Use hangers to store clothes that you may wear before you take out the other clothes.
