How to Tie a Cummerbund
It’s not hard to tie a cummerbund properly. If you don’t tie them correctly they can look strange and end up drawing negative attention. Most cummerbunds will have hardware to help you keep them buckled, and the pleats should face a specific direction.
It is a good idea for you to know how to properly tie a cummerbund. You will typically wear these for very formal occasions. If a cummerbund is not worn properly, it can look tacky and will ruin any formal look. Luckily, cummerbunds are very easy to tie and can look great on just about anybody.
- Hold your cummerbund up to your waist. You will need to have the sash part of it against your abdomen. The cummerbund should be turned in a way so that the pleats face upward. Remember that your cummerbund should fit snugly but you should still comfortably be able to sit down and breathe in it.
- Find the buckling hardware that is behind your back and bring the two ends of it together. Figure out if the cummerbund is at the correct length or if it should be adjusted at all. Once you have it fitting snuggly but still comfortably, you can buckle it together. Do this by adjusting your sliding buckle onto one end of the cummerbund until the buckles are able to come together. Ensure that they are directly in the middle of your back for a proper fit.
- Find the T shaped buckle and slip it into one end through the other on your oval loop. It will be located on the opposite end of your cummerbund. Twist it in a way so that the T shape will stay in place while you have it inside of the buckle.
- Smooth out your cummerbund and ensure it is fitting you correctly.
