How to Track Post Office Express Mail

The United States Postal Service offers some of the same benefits that Fed-Ex and UPS do. One of the most common is the ability to track express mail packages. Like Fed-Ex and UPS the United States Postal Service has a website created especially for tracking and other postal services.

  1. Go to the United States Postal Service website or USPS.com.

  2. Create an account. Click the link that reads, "Create an Account." Begin completing the provided web form. Type in your full name, physical address, phone number and email address. Select a user name and password for your account. User names selected depend on availability. Type in your preferred user name to determine its availability. If this user name is taken select another until you have one that is available.

  3. Follow the requirements for the password. Usually most websites want you to create a password that consists of a specific amount of letters and numbers with one symbol included.

  4. Click the link that reads "Track and Confirm." This link is shown at the far left side of the screen underneath "Quick Tools." Enter the label number found on the receipt you received when shipping a package or the confirmation number sent to you when you ordered an item online. Click "Find." The United States Postal Service website will search its database to determine where the package with this label is currently located. Once located a reports is generated on your screen. Usually the report shows a city and state with a time of arrival for your package to that location.
