How to Train a Labrador Retriever

The Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular dogs in the United States. This type of dog is extremely kid friendly and super easy to train. You should train your Labrador Retriever while it is still a puppy. The only thing that you are going to need to train your dog is a dog treat.

  1. Bring your dog to a dog park or somewhere where it is around a lot of different people. Take your dog for a walk and get it used to different types of places.

  2. Play with your dog for at least an hour every day. Get your dog housebroken while the dog is still a puppy. Give the dog a treat when it uses the restroom outside instead of inside.

  3. Teach your dog the basic commands that it should know such as "stay" and "sit". When you are doing this, make sure that you use the dog's name and repeat the Command over a few times. Make sure that you give the dog a treat when it does the command.

  4. When you are teaching your dog the "come" command, you should give it a treat when they come to you. You should repeat this command for your dog to get it.

  5. While your Labrador Retriever is still a puppy, you should go ahead and leash train it. When you do this, use the "sit" command.

  6. Teach your dog how to fetch. Throw the object that you would like your dog to retrieve. Once they have gotten the object, use the "come" command. When the dog brings you the object, give it a treat.
