How to Train in Athletic Sports
Training for athletic events takes a lot of discipline and self motivation. The athletes who perform at the highest level are the ones who do the little things well. There is not secret to becoming a good athlete, it takes a lot work.
Things You'll Need:
- Pencil
- Paper
- Write down a strict weight training regimen. Make sure you include specific details about each lift and how many times you'll perform them each week. A popular weight training schedule includes training for two consecutive days, taking one day off and then training for two more consecutive days. Also make sure you train both your lower and upper body.
- Write down a strict diet program. Make sure you're eating enough calories a day to gain weight, lose weight or maintain your weight. Eating write is almost as important as training right. Your body won't achieve its full potential if you don't fuel it with the right foods.
- Get proper rest; don't burn the candle at both ends. Ideally you want to go to bed at the same time every night and wake up at the same time every morning. Getting your body used to a routine is very beneficial. You don't want your body to be tired leading into an athletic event because you didn't get the proper amount of rest the night before.
- Prepare yourself mentally before the event by clearing your mind of any other distractions. Leave all personal matters behind until the event is over. Concentrate only on the task at hand during the event.
