How to Upload Photos

Uploading photos to a computer is not that difficult to learn. With a quality digital camera and a few simple steps, you can have your favorite pictures saved to a computer and have the ability to share them through email, websites, or even instant chat messaging.

Taking Your Photos

The first step in uploading photos is taking your photos. A digital camera that has at least 7.0 megapixels can generally take good quality pictures. Be sure you have a memory card installed in your camera to allow you to take a large number of photos at once. You will also need a USB cable to connect your camera to your computer unless the computer has a card reader. Decide what type of photos you want to take and get to snapping!

Saving Your Photos to You Computer

When you have taken your photos, it is time to save them to the computer. This can be done in two different ways. You can connect the USB cable that came with your camera to the computer. The USB end needs to be connected into a USB port on the computer and the smaller end will connect to the camera. Once the camera and computer is connected, a pop up message should appear on your computer screen giving you options to choose from. Choose the option that says "save photos to file" or something similar to that. The photos will be saved to a file that you can name and choose where it will be stored on the computer.

Uploading Your Photos

When your photos are saved, they can be uploaded to virtually any location online you choose. Most websites will have either an 'add photos' or 'upload photos' button to click on. Click this button and then click browse to go to the file the photos were saved to. Choose the photo you wish to upload and click the button labeled 'open'. This will automatically upload the photo to the website, email or instant messaging program of your choice.
