How to Upload to Online Storage

Using online storage, you can store and retrieve your files from anywhere in the world.  This is much more flexible than carrying around portable drives.  In order to best utilize the services, you will need to get your files uploaded to the online storage servers.

Upload Files Using a Web Browser

  1. Type the address of your online storage server into your browser address bar.

  2. Enter in your login credentials when asked.

  3. Navigate to where you wish to upload your files.

  4. Click the "Upload" button to move your files into your online storage account.  A dialogue box will prompt you for the location of your files on your computer.

Upload Files Using an FTP Client

  1. You will need to have an FTP client available to use on your computer.  A freeware option if you do not have one available is Filezilla.

  2. Enter in the server address of your online storage service in the “New Connection” dialogue box of your ftp client.  The ftp server address will usually look something like ftp.servername.com (it will have ftp at the beginning).  Also, type in your online storage ftp user name and password in the provided space and click the "Enter" button.

  3. Your FTP client should successfully negotiate a connection.  Navigate to where you wish to store your online files.

  4. From your PC’s file explorer, open My Computer and navigate to the location of the files you want to upload.  Right click on the file and select the option to copy the file.

  5. Return to your FTP client window where you have your desired online storage folder open.  Right click anywhere in the blank space of your FTP client’s window. Right click and select "Paste" to copy the file into your online storage folder via its FTP server.
