How to Use Competition Engineering Materials
Building race vehicles has long been a popular hobby in many areas of the country. For these vehicles to run as quickly as possible, competition engineering materials are used. These materials convert a vehicle into a speed machine, offering competitive advantages on race day.
Directions:
- Jack up the car and place on lift jacks for support. The vehicle needs to be at least 18 inches off the ground.
- Adjust the suspension bars so they can pass into the brackets that house the rear end axle and attach to the suspension bars. They should be equally high as the drive shaft yoke as it normally sits on the ground.
- Fit the engineering drive shaft into the position between the transmission yoke and rear gear yoke. This will move power to the wheels. The nuts on the suspension and axle housing should be 120 foot pounds of pressure. Use a torque wrench to adjust them to this pressure level.
- Fix the shocks into position with a spanner wrench, then install them into the suspension system. Bolt the brackets into place and tighten them to 120 foot pounds of pressure. Adjust the springs in place.
- Pull out the jacks supporting the vehicle.
- Check the installation and make sure the frame is the correct distance from the ground. Scan the rear end axle and suspension bars to make sure they are installed properly and aligned correctly. Inspect the connection for the drive shaft and make sure it is properly leveled.
