How to Use Glycolic Skincare Products
To get smoother skin, rid yourself of acne or reduce discoloration, glycolic skin care peels can be the answer. Before going to the dermatologist, you may want to start with a lower concentration of acid and test the waters, so to speak.
It's a shame that acne problems don't fade as our adolescent years pass away. But, if you're still fighting sore acne and looking for a way to regain smooth healthy skin, you may want to try glycolic skin care products. Follow these steps to a smooth, youthful looking face.
- When beginning with your first glycolic skin peel, you can start at most any store to purchase a kit. It will typically be about a 10% acid formula versus the 20% and higher kits you'd get from a dermatologist's office. Repeating the peels over time is what produces the spectacular results, so starting at a higher concentration will not produce better results but is something you work up to.
- When purchasing your kit, make sure it has all the necessary parts including the gylcolic acid, neutralizer and moisturizing cream that will also act as a sunscreen. In some cases, they come separately, so read your box and directions carefully.
- While of course you should follow the directions on the box, typically you'll leave the acid on your face for approximately 5 minutes before neutralizing and moisturizing.
- For sensitive skin, it may take several times of using the peel before you can work your way up to 5 minutes.
Expect to see smoother skin almost immediately and decreased discoloration after a couple of applications.
