How to Use Hunting Dog Training Tools

Training your dog is one thing but if you want them to hunt then you have to use the proper dog training tools. You can use hunting dog training tools to aid and train them when hunting season comes around. Spend time teaching and reiterating these hunting skills throughout the year so they do not lose the skills.

1. Teach your dog the basic tools in training. This means that your dog must understand basic commands before you can teach it hunting skills.


2. Purchase the tools necessary to train your dog for hunting. Items you may want to purchase include fake fur, Frisbees and your hunting gun.


3. Allow your dog to get a feel for your hunting gun. This is the single most important tool when training a dog for hunting.  The dog needs to become comfortable with the gun and also to understand when to bark.


4. Use a signal that will tell your dog when to start and stop. Just like humans need good communication, so will you and your hunting dog. You can use a whistle or your mouth to conduct a stop-and-start training tool with your hunting dog. This will cue your dog when you want it to stop or start.


5. Use a Frisbee to practice strength and endurance with your dog. Hunting will require your dog to be in good shape. You can use a Frisbee to prepare your dog for the running and fetching that he or she will be doing.


6. Utilize fur to help train your dog for hunting. Fur or feathers are a top hunting tool to teach dogs how to hunt. Scents are an important part of hunting and you can use the fur to help your hunting dog master those smells.
