How to Use Online Banking Services

Many banking institutions allow customers to access their account information online.  Customers are able to check their balances, make transfers, pay bills and deposit money.  It is convenient that banking transactions can be done from the comfort of a home computer.  If your bank offers these services, you should take advantage of it.  You will save a great deal of time and energy going back and forth to the bank.

  1. Find out if your bank offers online banking services by contacting your bank. Go to your bank’s main webpage.

  2. Look for a button or tab labeled “Online Banking.”  Click on this section.

  3. Register your information.  You will need to provide your name, address and account information.  You will also need to create an account login and password.  This is for your security.  You don’t want anyone else to be able to access your bank accounts.

  4. Sign in to your online banking account with your login name and password.

  5. View your accounts with the bank.  You will be able to see current balances and daily transactions.  If you need to make a transfer, click on the transfer tab.

  6. Set up automatic bill pay.  This will allow the system to pay your bills on a certain day every month from a particular account.  This is a great way to pay your bills on time and build a good credit report.

  7. Log off your account before leaving the computer.  Even if you are in your own house, you should always make a habit of logging off the banking website.
