How to Use Progesterone Cream for Infertility

Infertility is a common problem for many couples trying to conceive. Infertility can be caused by many different factors. Sometimes it can be caused by a woman's lack of the hormone progesterone. The use of a progesterone cream supplements the body's progesterone level, which can help with infertility.

Always consult with your doctor before you begin any type of infertility treatment. The cause of infertility can be hard to diagnose, and a doctor can help to determine if a low progesterone level is the cause of your infertility.

  • Apply 1/4 teaspoon of the progesterone cream to an area of your body. You can apply the cream on your belly, chest, inner thigh and inner arm. Apply the cream on the day after you stop your menstruation cycle when your hormone levels are low.

  • Switch the site of application every twp to three days. For example, if you begin by applying the cream to your belly, then after two or three days apply the cream to your inner thigh instead of your belly. Changing the application site is recommended because the progesterone cream can damage your skin with repeated applications in the same area.

  • Apply the cream for three weeks and then stop. Stopping the application of the cream gives the body a chance to rest from the added affects of the hormones. Also your hormone levels will raise naturally as you near the start of your menstruation cycle.

  • Begin using the cream again on the day after you stop your menstruation cycle. Remember to switch application sites during use.

  • Continue to use the cream for three months.

  • Talk to your doctor after three months of using the cream or if you become pregnant, to determine your next course of action.
