How to Use River Rock in Landscaping Ideas
Both large and small yards can benefit from landscaping with river rock since it comes in different sizes. If you wish to use it as flat stone, river rock is a perfect choice for this because there are large sizes. However, smaller sizes exist for small areas. River rock is perfect to use in a rock garden.
- Decide where you want
the river rock in your yard. Mark it off so that you remember the
areas that will have the rock. You will need to remove any grass in
these areas and then dig down a minimum of four inches using a
shovel. - Use a hard rake after
digging four inches to make sure the ground is level. In addition,
if you want your landscaping with the river rock to not have a
completely level surface, make sure you rake to make areas as unleveled
as needed. You should already know what kind of river rock you are
planning to use in the area you are racking. - Before laying the river
rock, you will need to measure the area you plan to place it and
purchase the standard black polyurethane covering. Gently push it in
the area that you planning to put the river rock. This plastic helps
to keep weeds from growing through your river rock making
maintenance more difficult. - Begin putting the river
rock on top of the plastic polyurethane. Fill as much or as little
as you wish to meet the needs of your landscaping ideas. You need to
at least make sure that the polyurethane plastic is not showing, so
make sure you cover it well.
