How to Use Rubber Sidewalks

Rubber sidewalks have become more popular over the last few years. They are a great way to recycle old tires that would normally be thrown away. Besides the environmental benefit of rubber sidewalks, another benefit is the fact that individual slabs can be lifted up and maintained without ripping out the whole sidewalk. Rubber sidewalks also prevent slips and falls from cracks in the sidewalk or black ice.

    • Use them in areas where trees are growing. The rubber sidewalk allows you to do tree repair and trim roots. You can just lift the section where the roots are growing and then replace it when you are done.

    • Jogging and walking paths that use rubber sidewalks offer more cushioning. This is better for the feet and knees.

    • Outdoor playgrounds and athletic areas use rubber sidewalks to cushion falls and makes serious injuries less likely in the event of a fall.

    • Apartment complex and office walkways use rubber sidewalks. These sidewalks are easy to install and easy to maintain. You will not have to worry about lifting occurring like you would with a cement sidewalk.  If you did have to replace a slab, they lift out easy and you could just snap a new one in. This can save a company a lot of money over the cost of redoing a while walkway.

    • A backyard patio is another place for rubber sidewalks. These slabs are attractive and can be placed over areas that would be hard to dig up or hard to pour concrete over. This makes them perfect for an easy back yard patio.
