How to Use Wire Shelving for Scrapbook Storage
Keeping your scrapbook supplies organized helps you save time while crafting. Being organized means you will know what supplies you have and what supplies you are running low on. Being able to easily see your scrapbooking supplies helps you find the perfect paper and embellishments for a layout.
Materials Needed
- Wire shelving unit
- Paper organizers
- Plastic drawer organizers
- Plastic containers
- 1/4" plywood or cardboard
- Wooden or metal dowel rod
- S-hook or ornament hangers
- Wall anchors
Instructions
- Place wire shelf against wall and anchor against wall to prevent it from tipping over.
- Measure shelf size and cut plywood or cardboard to fit. This will prevent small pieces from falling down through the wires and prevent wire marks on loose papers. Cover with contact paper if desired.
- Place paper organizers on shelf as desired. Look for paper holders that will accommodate 12" square paper. Most craft stores or scrapbooking stores carry organizers large enough to hold scrapbook paper.
- Place drawer organizers as need to hold eyelets, brads and other small embellishments.
- Hang dowel rod from shelf using S-hooks. Use ornament hooks or S-hooks to hold sticker sheets. Organize stickers by theme or occasion and hang one theme per hook. Sticker sheets can be slid back and forth to access shelf, but try to cover a shelf you won't use as often.
- Ribbon can also be hung from a dowel rod. This makes it easier to exactly what colors you have available to work with.
- Use plastic containers to hold tools and larger embellishments. These can be stacked and labeled to save room.
- Hang S-hooks on the side and front of shelves to hold scissors and other tools so these are easy to find.
