- Your Check
Steps
- Search for websites that sell pre-paid cash cards and compare them to find out which ones accept checks as a mode of payment. Compare the prices and any other stated terms and conditions before you decide on the site you will purchase your cash card. If you have specified your purpose or aim of purchasing a cash card i.e. if it’s for handling a particular financial aspect then you can buy a gift card instead. However, if the card is for is multi-purpose then it’s advisable to purchase a Visa or MasterCard meant for general purpose.
- Fill out all the information regarding the purchase. You are required to fill information regarding your bank account such as the routing number, check number and amount of money you want to load on the cash card. You can get the routing number at the bottom of your check – far left corner. The check number is also indicated on the check. The amount you want to load can be in designated values or the site can allow you to state any figure.
- Invalidate the check by writing “VOID” across the check. Make sure you do this in capital letters and in this way you will be stopping anyone from filling out the check, if it was blank. This deters thieves from using it to access the funds in your account. This should be done immediately after the purchase of the cash card has been concluded.
- Receive the mail from respective company about the cash card. Keep in mind that this card withdraws cash from your account faster than a check, so before you purchase it make sure your accounting is up to date.
