How to Use a Hair Weaving Needle
If you want extensions, you could pay a professional but it costs hundreds to have this done. You could do the extensions yourself by sewing the tracks. Using a hair weaving needle is not as hard as it might sound. If you can sew a button on a shirt, you can sew in the weaves yourself and save a lot of money.
- First, preparing your hair for the weaving is the biggest step. If you do not properly prepare, you will have problems sewing in the track. The best way to prepare your hair is to use braids such as cornrows. Depending on how much hair you have, you can make approximately 10 straight braids in the back of your head.
- Take the hair weaving needle and thread it with the weaving thread, which is supposed to be thicker than your typical sewing thread. Make sure the color you choose for the thread looks as close to your own hair as possible or at least blends well. Thread the needle just as you would a regular needle and thread. This can be a bit tedious because the thread is thicker but the needle's eye is small. Once you have it threaded, pull around two inches of the thread through and then cut about 12 to 14 inches from the end.
- Tie the very end of the thread into about three knots on top of one another; this makes one big knot. Keep in mind that this knot needs to be big enough so that when you begin sewing it will not slide through the track seam.
- Take the end of your first track that is going to be sewn into the first braid. Push the needle through the track seem and then through your braid, pull it until it stops by the knot you made on the end. Wrap this thread all the way around the part of the track seem and then push it through again until it stops. Continue around the track in this fashion until you come to the end of the track, then cut the thread and knot it.
- Continue each track in the same fashion until you have all your braids threaded. By the time you have finished all your braids, you will have a beautiful head of hair. Be sure to take your time threading and weaving, this way you will be pleased with the results.
