How to Use a Quilting Machine
When people first started quilting it was something that was done strictly by hand, which was one of the reasons that it was not that popular. It quickly gained in popularity when the quilting machine was invented. What used to take months to complete can now be done in a fraction of the time.
How to Use a Quilting Machine
Trace the desired quilting pattern onto lightweight tracing paper and pin it to the quilt.
The "feed dogs", which are mechanisms that guide the bottom of the fabric through the machine, are left up if the pattern has minimal curves. If the pattern has a lot of curves, the "feed dogs" should be let down so you will have control over how the fabric moves.
Place the proper presser foot on the machine, which will depend on the thickness of your fabric.
Load the thread and bobbin onto the machine. The thread should be 100% cotton to prevent the bobbin from breaking.
Sew the quilt in small sections to keep the machine from overheating.
