How to Use an EBT Card at Rite Aid

While many drug stores won’t accept the EBT card program, Rite Aid does. As long as you know what products and purchases are eligible through the program you can use your EBT card at a Rite Aid store just as you would a grocery store.

Using your EBT card at Rite Aid can easily be done with just a few simple steps. EBT stands for Electronic Benefits Transfer card. It is for those that are eligible to receive any type of cash benefits or food stamps. This will be something you can apply for with the help of the Supplement Nutritional Assistance Program. Your card will pay for all of your grocery items from the Rite Aid that you are visiting.

  1. Be sure you know what items are eligible with your EBT card. Some may be restricted. Set up your Personal Identification Number or memorize the one that has been given to you. Go to your local Rite Aid and shop for your eligible grocery items that you need. You will then go to the cash register and allow the cashier to ring up all of your items. You do not have to tell them that you are paying with your EBT card.

  2. Go up to the point of sale terminal and swipe your card as you would any other credit or debit card. It will ask for your Personal Identification Number after you have swiped your card. Put it in and if you have any items that are not eligible to be paid for by your EBT card you will need to pay for them separately.

  3. Get your receipt before you leave as it will provide you with your EBT remaining balance so you will know for the next time you shop.
