How to Video Chat
Online video chatting with family, friends and business associates has become possible, due to the technology that is always evolving. No matter where you are in the world, you can easily communicate with someone on the other side of the planet through the Internet and see exactly what the person is doing.
- Obtain a web cam and install the necessary software on your computer. Check to make sure the webcam is compatible with the exact model of your computer, and determine whether you need to make any modifications for other system requirements. Most of the more recent laptops come with a web cam already installed, so if this is the case in your situation, omit this step from the process.
- Research the various service providers that offer video messaging. Most of the time they are free, such as with MSN Messenger and Skype. Sign up for the service you wish to use and confirm whether you wish to upgrade to a plan that requires a monthly payment, or if you are satisfied with the level of service you receive at the basic level.
- Spread the word and obtain contact information from friends and family members so you can speak to them online. Add your friends and family members’ screen names to your buddy list and save any additional information that helps you identify them.
- Call someone on your list and start your first video chat session. You will be able to see the person you are speaking with as they are able to see you.
