How to Weave Curly Hairstyles
You can create curly hairstyles using weaves and extensions, and can easily go from straight to curly with a little work. It is not hard to weave a curly hairstyle as long as you have the correct styling tools needed to get the job done. You can take your straight hair to curly in a few minutes.
- Decide on the type of curls that you want. There are many types of curls, such as wavy, romantic type curls, spring curls or afro curls. Wash your hair and completely blow dry it before you start.
- Separate your hair into sections using a comb and clips. Separate the sections of your hair that you want to leave out of the weave, and will be used for blending. Normally, this is your hairline and sections of hair at the crown of your head.
- Braid the sections of hair that is going to be used as the base for the weave, or for a weaving cap. You can also loosely braid the exposed hair to keep it out of your way. There are many different options to braiding patterns you can use. It is best to discuss with a stylist the best to use for the type of style that you want to achieve.
- If you are going to use a weaving cap at the base for the weave, use a curved needle with nylon thread to stitch the cap into place. Make sure you don’t stick to the braid beneath the cap.
- Start at the rear of your head. Most weaving is patterned using horizontal strips on the back of the head. When a line is finished, trim and reinforce the weft using extra stitches. Continue this pattern until you reach the top of your ears.
- Close the weave at the crown if you have bangs. There should be a smooth transition from the horizontal into the spiral formation on the hair. You should only move around the crown in one direction, until you can make no more rotations. Apply a final stitch to the center end piece. Style and trim your hair as desired.
