There are many work-at-home scams you need to watch out for, especially those that charge you a fee. You should never have to pay a fee to work from home! In order to work from home without paying fees, look at free job advertisements, search the Internet and only accept jobs that do not charge a fee.

• Search free job listings online for work at home jobs. You should never have to pay a fee simply to look at a list of job advertisements. So, check places like Craigslist and Monster.com for listings for work at home jobs. Look for keywords like "telecommute" or "consultant."


• Do an Internet search to find reputable work at home jobs. If you want to work as a writer, you might do a search for the terms "writers wanted" or "now hiring writers." You can replace the word "writer" with other common jobs that allow you to work from home, such as "virtual assistant" or "web-designer."


• Check into your potential employer. Once you find a job you want to apply for, do a search online for the employer. If they are running a scam or charge a fee to work, you should be able to find out. This will save you the time of applying for the job yourself.


• Decline any offers of employment for a fee. If you apply for a job, and the employer tells you it will be a one-time fee to start, just say no thank you. There are plenty of no-fee work at home jobs available.
