How to Write Education on a Resume
Composing a well-crafted resume is a major chore for some individuals. With so many guidelines and formats it is often difficult to select which resume design is the best for you. If you are applying to an educational program where your education is the most vital part of your resume you should learn how to showcase this portion of your resume.
- List the year in which you graduated from your latest educational listing. If your highest level of education is a master's degree, list the year that you received your master's degree to the left of this listing. For instance if you graduated in 2010 you would simply type "2010" in bold lettering. Press the Tab key.
- Type the proper wordage for your degree in bold. For instance if you received a Masters of Science in Information Technology you would list this degree in the following format "Master Degree of Science in Information Technology." Place a comma after this listing and do not hit enter.
- List the name of your college or university after the comma. For instance if you attended the University of Notre Dame you could list the school "University of Notre Dame" and then hit enter.
- List the city and state for your college underneath this listing in regular lettering. It is not necessary to make this information bold.
- Type the awards you received throughout this degree program. List these awards one after the other in a list separated by commas. For instance if you were on the Dean's List numerous times simply list "Dean's List." If you graduated at a specific status such as Valedictorian enter this status first.
- Repeat steps 1 through 5 for each educational achievement where you graduated. For instance in this case you would list your bachelor degree, associate degree and high school graduation.
