How to Write a Bid for a Cleaning Business

Writing the first cleaning bid for your business can seem like a daunting task.  The estimate amount needs to be competitive with other cleaning businesses without under-selling your skills.  First impressions are crucial, therefore, you will want to present your bid in a professional and standardized manner.

  1. Buy a bid form or packet from your local office supply store, look up bid forms templates on the internet, or purchase the form directly from an internet site specializing in bidding formats.  There are advantages to using a template or online bidding form because of their versatility to change the form as needed for specific types of bids.

  2. List the services that you offer and the prices.  It's important to consider the competition when choosing prices and developing cleaning packages.

  3. Include an explanation of basic services, services that are not offered, and optional services that are only necessary at times.  For instance, most cleaners vacuum carpets every time, most will not clean dishes, and others will clean windows at varying intervals.

  4. Clearly state your terms of payment.  This includes your payment methods accepted, like credit card, check or cash.  Include how often you expect to be paid: monthly, weekly, or on a per job basis.  Include any special services and how you will bill for your work.

  5. Provide your personal guarantee of your work in writing on the bid form so your potential customer knows exactly what to do if they are unsatisfied with the services.

  6. Secure your bid by including your signature, the customer's signature and be sure to include the date signed.
