How to Write a Business Relocation Letter

Businesses relocate all the time for one reason or other. Some reasons are that the space the company has now is too small and they need to move to a bigger facility. Another reason for business relocation is when the current place they are maintaining now cannot be maintained any longer.

  • Understand that if you do need to move your business at any point, you will need to contact several people. Some of the places that you will need to contact about your move are your clients, suppliers, banks that you do business with, any government offices that you team up with and anyone else that you have communication with. Be sure you inform everyone of your new location and be sure that each letter that you sent is personalized to the business or individual you are sending it to.

  • Compose a detailed letter with all of the information that your clients will need in order to continue doing business with you. Things that should be included are the exact address complete with your business name, and complete street address including city, state and ZIP code. In the event that your company has a website, be sure to include that as well.

  • Acknowledge the customers who have been a part of your business. The letter should contain your appreciation for the weeks, months or years they have supported your business. This will not only make the customers feel good but it also lets them know that even though you are moving, you still wish to continue doing business with them. You can also let them know why you relocating, but this is optional. Let them know that even though you are relocating, your services and customer service will still remain a top quality.
