How to Write an RV Rental Agreement
Do you have an RV that you don’t get much use out of that you’re thinking about renting, or are you planning to start an RV rental business? If so, consider putting together a rental agreement to protect your assets. Rental agreements need to be well thought out and cover all bases.
- Include an area on the rental agreement where the renter provides you with all of their contact information. This includes their full name, all phone numbers, their address and the number on their driver’s license. This information will be needed for any other additional drivers as well.
- Put the date that the vehicle was rented, the date and time it will be returned by, and the total cost of the rental on the agreement. The fees may be based on the cost of the rental per day, a security deposit and any gas that has been used. Itemize each expense and place the total cost underneath them. The client should also see what they’ll be charged if the vehicle is returned late on the agreement. Make sure the clients understand that they’ll get their security deposit back if the RV is returned on time with no damage.
- Leave space at the end of the agreement where the client and owner can sign and date the form. By signing and dating the form the client and owner agree to everything mentioned on the agreement.
- Keep a copy of the rental agreement for your files and give the renter one as well.
- Copy the renter’s driver’s license to keep along with your copy of the agreement for security purposes.
