How to be Safe on an Amusement Park Ride
Most people go to amusement parks because they have rides that are thrilling. Some rides are perfect for the thrill-seekers, while other people get on a ride and afterward regret it because it was more frightening than they anticipated. Rides are typically safe when guidelines are followed. Keep the following in mind to make sure you stay safe.
- Realize before you get on any ride
that there are risks involved. However, when you get on the ride,
make sure that what restraints that are provided are securely
fastened. Do not depend on the ride operator to make sure you
are buckled in properly, unless the ride has the automatic
restraints as most do. - Take extra precaution with small
children or adults that are small in stature. Rides that twist and
turn upside down could easily cause the small child or adult to fall
out if they are not securely fastened in. Teach your children to
always abide by the ride rules. - Understand and read all the safety
rules prior to getting on the ride. In addition, you should have a
general knowledge of what to expect before you get on the ride. For
instance, if you are getting on a roller coaster with steep drops
and twists that turn you upside down, you will want to know this
beforehand. There have been accidents in the past with people
getting on rides and became so frightened that they attempted to get
off while the ride is moving and caused themselves serious injuries. - Do not try to get off the ride at
the end until it has come to a complete stop and the latches are
released by the ride operator.
