How to do Time Lapse Photography

In the early days of film animation, time lapse photography was used in order to make it look like a great amount of time passed between photgraphs. To try the same effect you can make time-lapse photography with a digital camera. By following some steps, you can be well on your way to making your own time-lapse photography.

  1.  Open the battery lid case of the camera and put in fresh, new batteries. Then insert the memory card inside the slot for battery and close.

  2. Put in the tripod screw onto the platform of the tripod in the mounting hole on the bottom of a digital camera. Then rotate the screw clockwise until it is finger tight.

  3. Open the legs of the tripod and twist the horizontal and vertical rods at the top of the tripod counterclockwise. Then aim camera at the horizon and twist the horizontal and vertical rods clockwise. This helps lock them into place, and puts the camera into position.

  4. Aim your digital camera towards the horizon and set the camera to default which is automatic mode. Then press the shutter to take a picture of the horizon.

  5. After ten minutes have passed then take another picture of the horizon. You should repeat this procedure every ten minutes or until it gets dark.

  6. Unscrew the camera from the tripod, close the tripod's legs, and put the camera away for safe keeping.

  7. Set your digital camera to playback mode.

  8. Advance the pictures seen on the LCD screen. You can do this by using the direction pad that is on the camera's back. Then make sure that you advance the photos (one per second) from the very first photo taken to the very last one taken.
