Planning a baby shower for a friend or family member is a great way to help them get the things they are going to need for their new baby. It does not have to be anything lavish. There are several inexpensive things you can do to make the shower memorable.

• Hang some streamers throughout the room using tape. Make sure you hang them high enough so the guests can walk around freely in the room without bumping into them.


• Purchase some baby garland with little tinsel baby shapes on it and string it across the room. This can be found at most party supply stores.


• Purchase a small decorative pine tree and decorate it with pink, blue and white Christmas lights. Use pacifiers, bibs, booties, baby socks, rattles, stars and angel figurines to decorate the tree.


• Use burp cloths or cloth diapers for napkins.


• Use baby bottles to hold condiments such as mustard or ketchup.


• Use teething rings or pacifiers as napkin holders.


• Fill some empty baby food jars with colorful candy and place them on the tables.


• Purchase a baby bathtub and use it to serve punch instead of using a punch bowl. Put some small rubber ducks in the tub and let them float around in the punch. This is a great way to serve drinks and the tub can also be cleaned and given as a gift to the mom-to-be.
