Ideas for Custom Football Uniform Designs

From flag football teams to the National Football League, every team that takes the field wants to feel they stand out from the crowd. The surest way to achieve this is to design a custom football uniform from scratch that helps project the very essence of the team's fighting spirit whilst still providing enough color and flair to enable the fans to tell who’s who on the field.

Pick Team Colors:

Team colors are the heart and soul of any sport uniform and provide the foundation for any necessary design. Talk to the team and settle upon either a single color with a contrasting design color, or a group of colors that work well together, whilst still conveying the spirit of the team. A single colored uniform gives a sleeker look, whilst duotone uniforms of complementary colors provide a bit more design leeway.

Design the Jersey:

Here you not only display a player’s name and team number, but you can also display the team mascot on the front and rear of the jersey, as well as provide additional flair by adding knitted bands of contrasting team colors along the neckline and arms. The sleeves of the jersey are a perfect location to sport any striped colors your team has chosen, allowing you the additional option of outlining the player numbers in one of the contrasting colors to enable identification from downfield.

Select the Pants:

The design of the pants can either be in the secondary complementary color to tie in with the jersey, white with the team colors printed in stripes down the sides of the legs, or the same color as the jersey itself if you plan for a solid color uniform. A smaller rendition of the team mascot along the upper hip of the pants is also a popular styling option.

Pick A Helmet Design:

A helmet is generally colored to match a player's pants, and placing the mascot over the entire helmet gives a more intimidating look. Another option is to place a smaller version of the mascot on the back of the helmet where it will be readily visible to fans.

Selecting Socks:

As the bottom portion of players socks are covered by their shoes, the only area of the sock that really requires attention is the upper half of the sock that carries over on to the player's pants. This area of the sock should be colored in the primary jersey color for a well-balanced uniform design. A small rendition of the team mascot is also a design choice you may wish to look into, depending upon your other design selections.
