Ideas for Wedding Locations

If you are getting married, you have a lot of decisions to make. One of the biggest decisions is where to hold your actual wedding. Luckily, there are plenty of options such as a church, your home, or a hotel reception space.

A Church

If you are a regular church attendee or want to have a traditional wedding, you can have your wedding at a church. In fact, sometimes if you are a church member the church will not charge you a fee for holding your wedding there. If you are not a member of the church, you may have to pay a minimal fee. Inquire ahead of time to see if the church has any special requirements for couples who wish to get married there. Some churches require both members of the couple to be baptized in that particular faith or for the couple to receive premarital counseling from the pastor.

Your Home

You might choose to have your wedding ceremony at your home, or at another private residence. This is another affordable option and gives you complete control over which caterer to hire and how you decorate the space. Make sure there is enough room for all of your guests at the residence you choose. Also, consider where your guests will park. You may choose to hold your reception at home also, or move the event to another space.

A Hotel Reception Space

Most nice hotels have reception spaces or ballrooms you can rent out for a wedding. Keep in mind that many hotels charge a large fee for use of their space. You can get a better deal if you have you wedding at a non-peak time of year or on a weeknight. If you decide to have your wedding ceremony at a hotel, consider renting out a suite of rooms for yourself and your wedding party to stay in the night before. Also, you will probably want to have your wedding reception at the hotel as well, so make sure to find out if the hotel offers catering service.
