Free Standing Fence Ideas

Panel Fence

A portable panel fence can be built with pre-fabricated panels that can be purchased at home improvement centers. Panels can be joined together with hinges, so the fence can be folded and moved at your convenience. Panels can be free standing by attaching landscape timbers to posts on the bottom so the fence will have a solid base.

A Living Fence

A living fence can be transformed by planting shrubs, flowering bushes and trees that will provide shade around your patio. Shrubbery and trees can provide a wind break on windy days. Some flowering bushes and vines will attract butterflies and hummingbirds that can be watched for relaxation.

PVC Trellis Fence

A PVC trellis fence can provide privacy and a stylish look to your patio. Attach panels with screws and hinges to make a folding enclosure that is lightweight and will last for years. Materials are available in a variety of styles and colors at home improvement centers.

Split-Rail

A split-rail fence can be constructed from landscape timbers in sections and attached with bands to each section to create a free-standing fence. A split-rail fence can give a home a rustic look and can compliment about any type of home exterior. Decorative solar lights can be added to the top of the post on each section for lighting. The solar lights can be found at home improvement centers; lights are available in tin, copper and brass finishes.
