Ideas on Basement Design
Having a basement is a luxury that many people don't have. What you choose to do with your basement is entirely up to you, however, there are many things that you could do with it to make it a habitable space instead of a dank, dark area that you use to store all your unused, or broken items.
- Man Cave: If your husband likes to do things that are noisy or bother you, or he just needs a place to get away and keep all the items you have forbid in your mutual living space such as his Chicago Bears lamp, creating a basement man cave where he can hang out with friends and keep his stuff is a great use of the space.
- Basement Apartment: If you have a basement that is large enough that you can build an apartment in complete with a bedroom, living space kitchen and bathroom, you could rent out the space and make some extra money each month. If you choose this option, make sure that you have it inspected before you attempt to rent it so that you know everything is up to code and how much your basement apartment will yield monthly.
- Laundry Area: If you don't have a good place to do laundry, you can use the basement as a storage area as well a place to do your laundry. Keep a table in there and you will have a place to fold all your clean clothes while you wait for the rest of them to finish in the dryer.
