Ideas to Decorate Ballrooms
Ballrooms are used for formal events. The renter of the ballroom is responsible for decorations. Some ballrooms may contain chandeliers, columns and alcoves. Others may have nothing except windows and white walls. Ballrooms can be decorated many ways to give them a touch of class and elegance.
- Balloons - Use balloons as a cheap alternative to expensive decorations. Hang them from the ceiling in bunches to create balloon chandeliers. Tie them together, and place them on tables as centerpieces. Adorn entrances with balloon archways for an elegant look.
- Sparkle - To create a ballroom filled with sparkle, hang silk fabric from the walls. Bunch the fabric in the center, and tie it with a gold ribbon. Turn the lights low, and have a few lighted ice sculptures. Stage lighting can provide spotlights for important tables and the speaker's podium. Use rhinestone ribbons as streamers and hang them around the room.
- Cellophane - Attach colored cellophane to the ballroom walls. Cellophane will stick with static and does not need tape or nails. The cellophane will shimmer, giving an elegant effect in a low light setting. Work small squares of cellophane into the centerpieces to match the walls. Cellophane also defines the area of the party. It can be attached between walls and doorways to indicate areas guests should not access.
- Focal point - Create a focal point by hanging one large item, like a Chinese lantern, from the ceiling. Run streamers from the focal point to the walls. Decorate the walls in fabrics that will complement the main focal point of the room.
