Instructional Design Tips in the Classroom Setting
Technology has become a major part of everyday life including the classroom. Thus, many educators have embraced technology and search constantly for effective ways to use it in their classroom. However, teachers should make sure that technology use in the classroom has a purpose by identifying problems in the class.
Challenges
Give careful consideration to the technology that you want to use in the
classroom curriculum. Think about all potential problems that may arise as a
result of the changes to the lesson presentation, and how it would affect your
students. The challenges faced might include organizing your assignment or
quite possible grading your students, or perhaps coordinating student’s workflow in
a meaningful way. Regardless, to the challenges faced, it is imperative that
you know what these challenges are and take proactive steps prior to implementing
any technology into the classroom.
Options
After identification of the challenges, that could arise within the
classroom. The next step is coming up with resolution to fix the issues
identify. If organization is an issue, implement changes to help you use your
time wisely. Consider using a software spreadsheet such as Excel, so you
can keep up with the student’s assignment and grades. Use educational websites
for students to research classroom assignments or teach instruction through
simulation.
Changes
After you have identified the classroom challenges and come up with a
technological plan to resolve the problems, implement the technological plan in
the classroom. Set some time aside to implement your strategies. Then, advise
the student of the changes in the classroom and let the students express their
opinions about the changes and answer any questions they may have. Review the
changes periodically to see if they are meeting the objectives needed.
