Interior Decorating and Painting Color Ideas

Matching certain paint colors can bring the interior decorating of a home to its fullest level. Depending on the interior of the home, there are all sorts of paint colors that can make or break the look you are going for when decorating.

Shabby Chic

For that old rustic French feel, you should keep the paint colors light and airy. Too dark of a color will loose the French country appeal and turn it royal, which is the complete opposite of shabby chic. Bright yellows and creamy whites are perfect backdrops for lightly colored desks, tables, and chairs. A rosy pink is another paint option that turns the style feminine.

Victorian Vintage

A Victorian decorating house needs to have darker romantic walls, especially in guest rooms and bedrooms. A deep brick or rose red will bring out the antique décor that is strewn around the area. Eggplant purple is color that can be used for the living room. A soft light color can also be used, but it is best to two tone it with a darker color on the adjacent wall.

Modern Contemporary

A modern home can use almost any paint color due to its wide range of styles. For a simplistic decorated home, a paint color on the walls can be louder than the décor. A bright orange, red, blue, or even green can bring a bit of 60’s space age retro to the modern interior. For a total peaceful modern home, use creams of pure white to add a sense of calmness.
