Modern Interior Design for the Bedroom

Interior Design Bedroom Paint Schemes

Paint schemes in a bedroom can either make the bedroom look bigger or smaller depending on how you paint the walls. Some paint choices are not good ones no matter what size of a room that you have. Depending on your taste in colors, everyone's interior design bedroom paint schemes are going to be different.

  • In a child's playroom, paint is usually not that important. This is because they are likely to draw on the walls at some point. If you are looking to make their room more fun and allow them to draw on the walls, blackboard paint is the way to go. This paint is black and when applied to the walls, upon drying you can use any kind of chalk to draw pictures then erase it when you are through.

  • Many teens like paint schemes in their bedroom that are bright and sometimes tacky. If your teen chooses a bright color scheme for their room, instead of discouraging the choice, allow them to paint an accent wall and then accessorize the room with the same color. This will be easier to paint over when they move out or they no longer enjoy the bright color.

  • Small rooms should not use dark colors. When you are looking at interior design bedroom paint, choose colors that are not overly dark such as burgundy, forest green or dark blue. This will make your small bedroom look even smaller, even if you use the color as an accent.

  • Painting small rooms lighter colors and accenting the wall with the window will make the room look larger. This is because the window has now become a focal point bringing some of the outside into the room.

  • Many people choose muted colors for their bedroom so that they can change everything else about the room without having to worry about paint that doesn't match. Lighter colors such as beige, off white, light grays, and pale pinks will make the room feel warm and inviting.

  • Yellow is advised to be used for any wall. While yellow is a bright and cheery color, when applied to the walls, it makes the walls look dingy and dirty. This should be avoided at all costs.
