The dentist must be within a provider network before people can visit. Some dental insurance companies will list dentists that people can visit to have procedures done. If a procedure is done by a dentist that is out-of-network, the co-payments will be higher or you may end up paying the entire cost of the procedure. The insurance company will often provide a booklet that lists the recommended dentists.
