Lighting Ideas for Evening Outdoor Weddings
Evening outdoor weddings can be elegant, classy and chic. However, it can be difficult to light an outdoor space without glaring spotlights on the bride, groom and guests. There are many ways to make an outdoor evening wedding glow without harsh lights.
- String Lights - String lights can be hung around the perimeter of the venue. They will provide a soft glow and allow guests to see the confines of the wedding area. Use larger string lights to create more light in walkway and stair areas.
- Centerpieces - Use centerpieces to create light. Candles in the centerpiece can provide a soft glow to the entire wedding area. Mix marbles in large vases with small LED lights to create a unique centerpiece.
- Ground Lights - Light all paths and walkways to reduce the risk of tripping. Use white bags filled with sand and a tea light to create a lighted luminary pathway. Small orb-shaped garden lights can also be placed along paths.
- Lanterns - Paper lanterns can make beautiful outdoor lights. Hang them from posts or the ceiling of an outdoor tent. Choose deep red, purple and royal blue lanterns to give the wedding an exotic flair.
- Projection – Use a projector to flash images of the couple on the ceiling, walls or ground. These pictures will add light to the wedding without ruining the soft glow of the atmosphere.
- Fire Pit - Provide natural light with a fire pit. Set the fire pit away from guests where it will not be accidently bumped. Several fire pits around the wedding area can provide warmth and an enchanting glow.
