Long-Term Effects of Birth Control
Women have been using birth control pills for many years. Many women never have any type of problems associated with taking them, but that is not true of all women. There are several long-term effects many women have experienced after taking birth control.
Long-Term Effects of Birth Control
Sexual dysfunction has been linked to birth control and can cause problems such as decreased desire, arousal, a decrease in lubrication and sex-related pain. The decreased levels of testosterone in women using oral contraceptives are due to the increased globulin levels.
The use of estrogen, which is in birth control, is associated with an increased risk of developing breast cancer. This is especially true for women over the age of 45. The risk increases dramatically for women with a family history of breast cancer.
Long-term use of birth control can cause women to lose important nutrients, which could lead to high blood pressure, cervical cancer or blood clots.
